Why You Shouldn’t Visit Syria: World Footprints

Last month, I was outraged by the fact Young Pioneer Tours were offering backpacking trips to Syria. They boasted that you could experience “cool bars and cafes, and [see] young locals smoking shishas and drinking cocktails” in Damascus, while also experiencing the “truly harrowing effects of full-scale war– destroyed hospital, schools, and houses.”

Disgusted by the wording, as any good millennial would, I took to the internet and pitched the idea to different outlets. I ended up being paid to publish this piece with the World Footprints.
